Just by calling yourself and your family open minded, you really do not become open minded.
Look around you, what are the things or the people who you do not accept, who you do not want to talk to, who you do not want to make relation with.
Of course, it is your choice. But you have no right to reject anybody. It is better to be fair and do not think about such discriminations.
“I like her but her friend is really boring.”
“I like him but his family is really bad.”
“I can survive with him but I don’t want to see his mother’s face.”
